As a teacher, I embrace the range of how students come to college, especially, with very different goals or aspirations. I see my job as trying to understand both the combination of institutional context and processes most students don’t understand and those students’ hopes, for no one comes to school initially without an outcome in mind. My role is to smooth the road, guide, help, suggest –.... to generally do better than was done for me, which is why I chose open-access academic classrooms in which to earn my tenure originally.
As a professional writer, I have 31 years of experience in academic, book, magazine, newspaper, and business writing. I am the author of 500+ articles covering architecture, art, culture, food and restaurants, spirits, wine, and wine country, as well as writer or ghostwriter of multiple book chapters, cookbook sections, and newspaper columns. As a professional artist, my 2D and 3D artwork has been nationally and internationally published numerous times and exhibited in a wide range of locations around the world, including the Pop and Contemporary Art Museum in Tallinn, Estonia; the CICA Museum in Seoul, Korea; Adas Israel in Washington DC; Burning Man in Blackrock, Nevada; and Gallery 1064 in Seattle, amongst many others.
