Octavio Fierros

Octavio Fierros is a passionate and student-centered physical education teacher with a Master’s degree in Kinesiology and a strong commitment to equity, social-emotional learning, and inclusive instruction. With experience teaching K–8 students in urban schools, Octavio designs culturally responsive and engaging PE programs that build physical literacy, promote teamwork, and empower student voice.

Beyond the gym, Octavio develops innovative physical education curricula aligned with SHAPE America’s national standards, using project-based learning, fitness integration, and student leadership opportunities. His work emphasizes emotional safety, restorative practices, and alternatives to traditional discipline in PE.

Octavio is also a professional development creator and instructor, leading courses that support educators in rethinking discipline, integrating SEL, and fostering student engagement in physical education. He partners with organizations like The Fluent World to offer accredited, self-paced PD courses for teachers seeking to transform their practice.

Driven by a commitment to community health, Octavio is certified in fitness instruction and is exploring opportunities to lead senior fitness programs and contribute to wellness education beyond the school setting. He also has a growing interest in higher education and instructional design, and is actively pursuing opportunities to teach kinesiology, PE, or coach educators at the college level.
